Decide What You Want
Will you be happy with a basic 1970’s disco set-up or do you want a fully equipped discoshow with a sophisticated over-head lightshow, and a DJ who will encourage dancing?
Shop Around
Once you know what you want shop around, but don’t just go for the cheapest.
You may think that someone quoting double is expensive, but find out what they have to offer and be sure you are comparing like with like.
One might be bringing the hi-fi from their front room (and some do) and the other may have a professional sound rig.
One might be keen to provide what you want whilst another may be more interested in doing what he or she wants.
Check The Quality
Older guests at your party will appreciate good sound quality.
A good lightshow is also essential for creating atmosphere. Always ask about their lighting.
Ask for references
Ask for references from previous clients and check them out - Even if booking by recommendation from venue managers.
Some hotels do recommend high quality discos - But insist you make the booking yourself.
Check On Insurance
Make sure that the disco you book has adequate Public Liability Insurance. If anybody should fall or trip over speaker cables or lighting stands, you could end up needing a solicitor!
Get A Contract
Once you have decided who to book make sure you get a proper printed contract covering all agreed details and make sure it is correct by reading the small print before you sign it.
Following these guidelines, are not compulsory, but should help weed out the amateurs and obtain a professional when booking your disco.
